Narayanganj Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Zahidul Islam Miah stated that we must love and cherish our heritage and culture. We must promote it through unity and harmony. If we divide ourselves, we won’t be able to represent our culture properly. Through Bengali New Year celebrations, we aim to present our true cultural identity to the next generation.
He shared these remarks during a preparatory meeting for the nationwide celebration of Chaitra Sankranti and Bengali New Year 1432, held on Monday in the conference room of the Deputy Commissioner’s office. During the meeting, the DC urged members of the law enforcement agencies to remain vigilant so that no unpleasant incidents occur during the Boishakhi events. He further said, “Through this meeting, we have received valuable feedback from you all. Based on this input, we believe we will be able to present the unique tradition of Bengali New Year in the context of Narayanganj.”
Seeking cooperation from all levels of society, DC Zahidul Islam added, “Regarding security, we’ve already placed all law enforcement agencies-from Narayanganj police to the army-on high alert. There are some groups trying to tarnish the image of our culture. We will take the highest level of precautions to prevent any such attempts and celebrate the festival safely. We are fully prepared for that.”
As part of the upcoming Pahela Boishakh (April 14) celebrations, extensive preparations have been made. At 9 AM, a colorful rally organized by the district administration will begin from Chashara Square and end at the Deputy Commissioner’s office via Link Road. Various educational institutions, cultural and social organizations, political parties, and people from all walks of life will participate in the rally.
Additionally, a Boishakhi fair and cultural event will be organized in front of the DC office. Similar events will be held in every upazila of Narayanganj and in both government and private schools and colleges across the district. The meeting was presided over by Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Zahidul Islam Miah. Attendees included Dr. Md. Moniruzzaman, Local Government Deputy Director (Deputy Secretary); Major Ayaz; Additional Superintendent of Police (Admin & Finance) Tasmin Akter; Civil Surgeon Dr. A. F. M. Moshiur Rahman; Additional DC (General) Md.
