Like the previous years,
‘5th Fresh-Channel i Prokriti Mela 2016’ was held with the theme titled Sundor Prokrititey Susthyo Jibon
on the premises of Channel i office in the capital’s Tejgaon area on January 9.
Aiming to create public awareness among the people on various elements of
environment and nature, Channel i, in association with Prokriti O Jibon Foundation, organised the day-long fair.
Information Minister Hasanul Haque Inu MP, Environment and Forest Minister Anwar Hossain Manju and Dhaka North City Corporation Mayor Annisul Haque, eminent butterfly researcher Prof Dr Monwar Hossain, noted singer Khurshid Alam, artist Abdul Mannan and media
personality Hasan Imam were present, among others,
at the inaugural ceremony of the fair. The day-long event
featured puppet show, nature related songs, dance, poetry recitation, tree
plantation, drawing
competition, mime show, gambhira, Jatra Pala, photo exhibition, stalls of sea fish, butterfly exhibition and
much more.
Besides, Suchitra Sutradhar received this year’s Prokriti Mela Award as grassroots
artisans, while North South University Earth Club received the award in institutional
level category. n
