Mustafa Kamal Nannu,Tangail :

The Local Government Engineering Department (LGED) has reported significant progress in 19 ongoing development projects in Tangail, achieving an average 82 percent physical progress in the current fiscal year.

According to LGED sources, implementation work worth Tk 2,289.99 crore has been completed so far, against an estimated allocation of Tk 2,678.08 crore for the fiscal year 2023–24.

This achievement has been credited to the active supervision of Executive Engineer Mohammad Kamruzzaman, who took office following the change of administration last year. His hands-on management, regular project site visits, and focus on quality control have been instrumental in expediting work across the district.”

After taking charge, I personally inspected each scheme. Any problematic tenders were cancelled, and contractors were engaged in discussions to resolve issues. Our focus has been on timely completion with uncompromised quality,”— Mohammad Kamruzzaman, Executive Engineer, LGED Tangail

Major Project Progress Rates:

IRIDP-3 (Priority Rural Infrastructure): 94%, IRIDP-Tangail (District Development): 79%, MRRIDP (Mymensingh Rural Infrastructure): 87%, CIBRR (Construction of Important Bridges): 52%, GBM (Gravel Road Maintenance): 86%, DDIRDWSP (Road Widening and Strengthening): 90%, CAFDRIR & SUPRB (Rehabilitation and Disaster Response): 70% – 87%, VRRP (Village Road Rehabilitation): 100%

In addition to these, projects related to small-scale water resources, canal and pond improvements, union and urban land office construction, and rural bridge infrastructure have also recorded steady progress.

Executive Engineer Kamruzzaman further stated that the district’s rural road network has now expanded to 9,251 kilometers, significantly enhancing rural accessibility and infrastructure connectivity.

The LGED’s initiative in Tangail is being viewed as a model for effective project implementation and public sector accountability.
