Prof. Dr. A. K. M. Akther Hossain elected as a Fellow of BAS

The Bangladesh Academy of Sciences (BAS) – the apex body of eminent scientists and technologists in the country – has proudly announced the election of Prof. Dr. A. K. M. Akther Hossain as a Fellow, in their 10th annual general meeting (AGM) held on June 24, 2024. This prestigious honor recognizes his significant contributions to the field of Physics and his impact on the scientific community in Bangladesh and beyond.

Dr Hossain, a distinguished Professor at the Department of Physics at the Bangladesh University of Engineering & Technology (BUET), received his Ph.D. from the Imperial College, London, United Kingdom in 1998.

His research interest is in superconductors, nanostructured ferrites, ferroelectrics, multiferroics, Diluted Magnetic Semiconductors, Optoelectronic materials, and nanocrystalline alloys. He supervised 13 Ph.D., 47 M. Phil., and 26 M. Sc. students. He has published 138 full-length articles in various reputed International Journals.

Prof. Hossain has accumulated a significant publication record in premier scientific journals, exemplifying his scholarly impact as an emergent leader in his field.
