Prof Bidhan seeks more USAID support

Primary and Mass Education Adviser Prof Dr Bidhan Ranjan Roy Podder on Tuesday sought more cooperation from USAID as Chargé d’affaires of US Embassy Helen LaFave called on him at his Secretariat office.

At the meeting, they discussed bilateral issues of mutual interest in detail, along with the activities of “Shobai Miley Shikhi” (Everyone Learns Together) and “Esho Shikhi” (Let’s Learn) project in government primary schools being operated with the help of USAID, said a ministry press release.

The adviser emphasised the training of Master Trainers and Teachers to ensure integrated education under the “Shobai Miley Shikhi” scheme, especially in English language learning.

He sought more cooperation from USAID in the “Esho Shikhi” project to deal with disaster management as well as sanitization and motivational programmes.

In addition to these projects, more USAID support in various projects to be undertaken by the Ministry of Primary and Mass Education for students in the future was sought.
Primary and Mass Education Secretary Farid Ahammad was present.

With the help of USAID, master trainers and teacher training are being provided in 5,000 government primary schools in 36 upazilas of 11 districts across the country under the “Shobai Miley Shikhi” project. The project is scheduled to run till April 2027, while “Esho Shikhi” will continue until 2026.

The area of the “Esho Shikhi” project is 10,048 government primary schools under 81 upazilas of 15 districts in eight divisions. The main task of this project is to continue the education programmes in the affected schools during and after the disaster.
