Immediately after its release, producer Rana Sarkar had expressed his desire to release Dev-Shubhasree’s ‘Dhumketu’ in Bangladesh. He drew the attention of the Chief Advisor and Cultural Advisor by posting about it on Facebook. Now, the producer has officially applied to release Dhumketu in Bangladesh.
After submitting the application for the release of Dhumketu to the Bangladesh Deputy High Commission in West Bengal yesterday, Rana Sarkar told local media, “There are numerous fans of Dev-Shubhasree in Bangladesh.
They have requested for the release of Dhumketu there. I had already submitted the application to the Bangladesh government through social media.
Then I contacted the Deputy High Commissioner about the release in Bangladesh. We met and then the entire process started. I submitted the application to the First Secretary of the Deputy High Commission.”
Rana Sarkar could not give a precise answer on when ‘Dhoomketu’ can be released in Bangladesh. He said, “It has been informed (from the High Commission) that this will be discussed with the Chief Advisor of the Bangladesh Government, Muhammad Yunus.
There are several legal issues between the two countries. Its processing will be started very soon and it will be announced whether Dhoomketu can be released in Bangladesh or not.”
