The Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) has announced a ban on public gatherings, processions, and rallies in the areas surrounding the official residence of the Chief Adviser, Jamuna, and the Bangladesh Secretariat.
The restriction, which takes effect immediately, will remain in place until further notice.
In a public notice issued by DMP Commissioner SM Sazzat Ali, the ban was enforced under Section 29 of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police Ordinance, 1976, citing the need to ensure the security of the Chief Adviser.
The prohibition extends to key locations in the vicinity, including the Hotel Intercontinental intersection, Kakrail Mosque intersection, Officers’ Club intersection, and Mintoo Road, among others.
Authorities have justified the measure as a necessary security precaution amid ongoing political tensions in the capital.
