Probe body for concealing court’s summon to ex-ACC official formed

Chittagong Metropolitan Magistrate Court Bench Assistant Mohammad Haroon Or Rashid has been transferred to the post of cashier for concealing the summons in the case of former Deputy Director of Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) Syed Mohammad Shahidullah who died while in police custody of Chandgaon police station in the city.

Also a one-member judicial inquiry committee has been constituted. On Sunday, the Chief Chittagong Metropolitan Magistrate Rabiul Alam gave this order.

Regarding the transfer, Chittagong Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Administrative Officer (Acting) Murad Hossain told on Sunday that Chittagong Metropolitan Magistrate’s bench assistant Haroon Or Rashid was transferred from sixth court to fourth court.

Meanwhile, two police officers were recalled in connection with the arrest of former Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) deputy director Syed Mohammad Shahidullah, who died in police custody at Chandgaon police station in the city in the same incident.

An inquiry committee was constituted to investigate whether there was any illegal act in the arrest of Syed Mohammad Shahidullah and whether there was any illegal treatment with him after he was brought to the police station.

The committee headed by the Deputy Commissioner of City Intelligence Police (DB-North) as its head, Additional Deputy Commissioner (North) as member secretary and Assistant Commissioner of Police (CTSB) as its member.

Syed Mohammad Shahidullah died in police custody at Chandgaon police station in the city on October 3 night.
