Country’s both the bourses — Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) and Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) — on Monday plunged further due to mainly price fall in large-cap securities.
DSEX, the broad index of the DSE, declined by 25.6 points and settled at 5,171 points as against 5,196 points in the previous trading session, reports BSS.
Meanwhile, trading activities remained stagnant with market turnover in DSE further decreasing by 3.1% to Taka 3.0 billion as against Taka 3.1 billion in the previous session as cautious investors prefer to stay on the sidelines in absence of any major trigger in the market.
On the Sectoral front, Pharma (20.3%) issues exerted the highest turnover, followed by Bank (12.1%) and Textile (10.0%) sectors.
Most of the sectors displayed dismal returns, out of Financial Institutions (-3.7%), Services (-1.2%) and Fuel & Power (-1.0%) exerted the most corrections on the bourse on Monday, while Food (0.6%), IT (0.3%) and Miscellaneous (0.2%) exhibited marginal gains.
Out of the 397 issues traded, 99 advanced, 215 declined and 83 remained unchanged.
The port city bourse, CSE, also settled on red terrain. The selected indices (CSCX) and All Share Price Index (CASPI) fell by 9.3 and 13.4 points, respectively.
