Price fall in large-cap drives stocks down

Country’s both the bourses– Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) and Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) – today plunged further due to mainly price fall in large-cap securities.
DSEX, the prime index of the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE), went down by 60.14 points or 1.04 percent to 5,715.36. Two other indices also ended sharply lower with the DSE 30 Index, comprising blue chips, plunged 27.87 points to finish at 2,093.27 and the DSE Shariah Index (DSES) lost 16.46 points to close at 1,229.70.
Turnover, a crucial indicator of the market, decreased to Taka 5,186.11 million, which was Taka 8,071.51 million at the previous session of the week.
Out of 397 issues traded, 301 declined, 64 advanced and 32 remained unchanged on the DSE trading floor.
GP topped the turnover chart, followed by BRACBANK, JHRML, BATBC and SQURPHARMA.
AMANFEED was the day’s top gainer, posting 7.02 percent gain while SEMLFBSLGF was the worst loser, losing 8.33 per cent.
The Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) also ended sharply lower with the CSE All Share Price Index – CASPI -losing 185.92 points to settle at 16,430.21 and the Selective Categories Index – CSCX shedding 113.75 points to close at 9,892.42.
Of the issues traded, 153 declined, 39 advanced and 23 issues remained unchanged on the CSE.
