Price fall in large-cap drives stocks down

Country’s both the bourses– Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) and  Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE)– Sunday plunged due to mainly price fall in large-cap securities.
DSEX, the prime index of the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE), went down by 125.20 points or 2.12 percent to 5,778.64. Two other indices also ended sharply lower with the DSE 30 Index, comprising blue chips, plunged 52.74 points to finish at 2,126.61 and the DSE Shariah Index (DSES) lost 24.54 points to close at 1,240.19.
Turnover, a crucial indicator of the market, decreased to Taka 4,808.95
million, which was Taka 9,990.14 million at the previous session of the week.
Out of 398 issues traded, 366 declined, 18 advanced and 14 remained unchanged on the DSE trading floor. GP topped the turnover chart, followed by BRACBANK, BATBC, SQURPHARMA and OLYMPIC.
 DAFODILCOM was the day’s top gainer, posting 6.61 percent gain while MPETROLEUM was the worst loser, losing 3.67 per cent.
The Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) also ended sharply lower with the CSE All Share Price Index – CASPI -losing 316.21 points to settle at 16,715.36 and the Selective Categories Index – CSCX- shedding 193.72 points to close at 10,065.37.
