The Dhaka Bureau Office of the international press agency Pressenza, which operates in 24 countries around the world, has been officially inaugurated.
With this inauguration, the international news agency has also launched its news service in the Bengali language.
The opening ceremony took place on Monday in the Shafiqul Kabir Auditorium of the Dhaka Reporters Unity (DRU).
The international news agency Pressenza officially inaugurated its Dhaka Bureau Office, marking Bangladesh’s inclusion as the 25th country in its global operations.
Previously, Pressenza published news in ten languages including English, Spanish, and Italian. From now on, Bengali will also be added, allowing readers to access Pressenza news in Bengali.
Mohammad Abdullah, Managing Director of the Bangladesh Journalists Welfare Trust and special guest at the inauguration, said that in today’s era of social media, journalism faces multifaceted challenges.
He expressed hope that Pressenza would play a leading role in promoting objective journalism.
He further stated that the launch of Pressenza in Bangladesh marks a new chapter and that he expects the agency to publish distinct and meaningful news.
Mainul Hasan Sohel, Executive Editor of Pressenza Dhaka Bureau and General Secretary of the Dhaka Reporters Unity, said that Pressenza will play a significant role in enhancing the quality of journalism in Bangladesh.
He expressed hope that the agency would develop into a reputable institution like AFP, AP, or Reuters.
Pressenza was founded in Milan, Italy in 2009, and has been registered as an international press agency in Quito, Ecuador since 2014.
The event was attended by Pressenza panel editors Sheikh Mohammad Arif, Shamsul Haque Bosunia, and Bayozeed Jashori, among other officials.
Additionally, Pressenza International representatives from Chile, Argentina, and other countries joined the event via webinar.
