Press conference held in Lohagara against illegal khas land settlement

A press conference was held in Lohagara, Chattogram, protesting an alleged illegal attempt to allocate government khas land to Golam Hossain, father of Upazila Awami League Secretary Salauddin Hiru.

The information was revealed in a press conference held at a restaurant in Lohagara Sadar on Sunday afternoon.

Advocate Faruk Uddin read out a written statement on behalf of the victims at the press conference. He said that the land with plot number BS 713 is khas land behind the building owned by Mustafa Group located in the heart of Lohagara Upazila.

The plot is a narrow, vertical plot. Therefore, its location is behind the building owned by Mustafa Group, as well as behind the establishment of another owner, Golam Hossain.  With the power of the previous Awami League government, Golam Hossain illegally occupied that Khas land and built a structure there.

Mustafa Group has never illegally occupied the land of the Khas Dag, nor has it built any structure on that land to this day.

It is worth noting that there is some doubt about the measurement of the Khas land. According to the measurements of local surveyors, the amount of land in the said land is found to be 10 hundred, but the amount of the said land is written in the government register as 05 hundred.

In this situation, both Mustafa Group and Golam Hossain Gang applied to the Honorable District Commissioner for allotment of the said Khas land in their names. But Awami League Secretary Salauddin Hiru used political influence and settled the land in the name of his father Golam Hossain.
