The biennial election of the Kamalganj Press Club was held amid tight security and a festive atmosphere. Ashabuzzaman Shaon was elected President with 19 votes, and Ahmeduzzaman Alam as General Secretary with 23 votes.
Ashabuzzaman Shaon was also elected Vice-President with 19 votes. Pintu Debnath received 18 votes, Md. Abdul Moktadir 13 votes, and Md. Ahad Mia 19 votes for the post of Joint General Organising Secretary. Parvez Ahmed secured 16 votes, and Md. Alamgir Hossain was elected Publicity, Publication and Cultural Secretary with 20 votes.
Additionally, Ranjan Debnath, Biswajit Roy with 22 votes, Md. Mostafizur Rahman with 22 votes, and Shabbir Elahi with 20 votes were elected as Executive Members.
Earlier, Ruhul Islam Hridoy and Truida were elected Finance and Office Secretary, and Md. Kamruzzaman as Social Welfare Secretary without contest.
On Saturday, from 10 am to 2 pm, the Kamalganj Press Club election was held at the office. Out of 27 voters, all 27 cast their votes. In this election, 17 candidates contested for 11 posts.
The Chief Election Commissioner in charge was Upazila Public Health Engineer Sujan Ahmed, with Md. Selim Ahmed and Al Amin serving as Election Commissioners.
Upazila Nirbahi Officer Makhon Chandra was present during the election, while Sutradhar and Kamalganj Police Station Officer-in-Charge Abu Zafar Md. Mahfuzul Kabir visited the polling station.
During the election, a large number of people from various political, social, and cultural organisations gathered at the Press Club, exchanging greetings with journalists.
The newly elected President of Kamalganj Press Club, Ashabuzzaman Shaon, and General Secretary Ahmeduzzaman Alam stated that this election will set an example for the people of the district.
Many organisations lack the courage and sincerity to conduct elections democratically to establish leadership.
Kamalganj Press Club, meanwhile, is working tirelessly to publish the truth while upholding the profession with ethics and morality, contributing to society and the country.
They expressed sincere thanks and gratitude to all members of the Press Club, including the Upazila Executive Officer, the Police Officer-in-Charge, and the Election Commission, for ensuring a fair, impartial, acceptable, and peaceful election.
