President of Bangladesh Law Alliance Md. Moheuddin Sarkar OviĀ met Barrister Mir Ahmad Bin Quasem (Arman), a victim of enforced disappearance. On Sunday, October 26, at around 8:30 p.m., the President of Bangladesh Law Alliance, Ovi, met Barrister Arman in Mirpur and conveyed floral greetings and a token of appreciation on behalf of the Bangladesh Law Alliance.
During the meeting, Ovi said, āIn independent Bangladesh, no one should fall victim to enforced disappearance again. Therefore, as citizens, we must be responsible toward our fellow citizens and remain vigilant. The state must always be held accountable.ā Mr. Ovi further stated, āBangladesh Law Alliance will extend its unwavering support toward the trial of heinous crimes against humanity such as enforced disappearance. Enforced disappearance is the biggest obstacle to the establishment of human rights. After a murder, the body is returned, but after an enforced disappearance, there is no trace of the person at all. Therefore, enforced disappearance is an even more despicable crime than murder.ā
Barrister Arman, a victim of enforced disappearance, praised Bangladesh Law Alliance and sincerely thanked Moheuddin Sarkar Ovi. He expressed hope that Bangladesh Law Alliance would make important contributions in the future toward protecting human rights and establishing the rule of law. Barrister Arman told President Ovi of the Law Alliance that he would always stand by the Bangladesh Law Alliance in all matters related to human rights and the rule of law.
At that time, the General Secretary of Bangladesh Law Alliance – BLA Mr. Ibrahim Khalilullah, was present. This information was provided through a press release signed by the Executive President of Bangladesh Law Alliance, Mr. Zayed Bin Naser.
