Aiming to elevate the university’s standards of education, research, and overall student development, while making a significant impact in the country’s competitive academic landscape, the Presidency University has appointed a good number of talented teachers.
The university is undergoing a “major transformation phase”, driven by a group of dynamic, highly qualified, and top-performing faculty members, according to a press release.
Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr Md Abdul Mannan Chowdhury said the university completed its two-decade journey successfully. Currently, 3,000 students are studying at the university. Among these, 2,500 are undergraduate students, and 500 are post-graduate students. The university has over 155 academic staff.
“We have appointed highly qualified teachers to elevate our standards of education, research, and overall student development,” he also said.
The newly appointed teachers are: Dr Shahidul Islam Khan from Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET) as dean of the School of Engineering; Dr ASM Shihavuddin from Universitat De Girona, Spain in the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering; Saheeh Shafi, Md Anisur Rahman, and Jarin Tasnim Raisa from University of Dhaka (DU) in the Department of English; Sal Sabil Chowdhury and Md Deedarul Islam Bhuiyan from DU in the Department of Law and Justice, Modhupom Choudhury from BUET for Department of Civil Engineering; Professor Abul Kalam from DU as the dean of the Department of Business, and Dr Mohammed Julfikar Ali Rajshahi University (RU) as the head of the Department of Business.
Besides, Mohammad Minhazul Alam, from BUET, has been appointed for advancing computer science education at Presidency University, and Md Mostafizur Rahman has been appointed as an assistant professor and the head of the Department of Civil Engineering.
