BNP’s Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman has called upon the party’s youth wings to begin preparations for a national election by December, accusing the interim government of intentionally stalling the electoral process under the pretext of reforms.

Speaking virtually at a large youth rally jointly organised by Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal, Jubo Dal, and Swechchhasebak Dal in front of the BNP’s central office in Nayapaltan, Rahman said:
“In the past, caretaker governments held elections within three months. But now, even after 10 months, no specific date has been announced. We want a government elected by the people and accountable to them. The next election must be held by December. Start preparing now.”

He alleged that delays in the electoral process indicate a deeper conspiracy aimed at derailing democracy, and urged the younger generation to actively resist such attempts.
“It appears the upcoming election is being entangled in so-called minimum and maximum reform conditions. This is a calculated effort to buy time,” he added.

BNP Standing Committee Member Salauddin Ahmed echoed Rahman’s concerns, stating that the party has only asked for a clear election roadmap, not the resignation of Chief Adviser Muhammad Yunus.

“We urge all to unite under Tarique Rahman’s leadership for a neutral government and a democratic future. If demanding democracy is a crime, then we are willing to commit it again,” he said.
