Preparatory Meeting Held in N’ganj to Commemorate Martyred Intellectuals Day and Victory Day

A preparatory discussion meeting was held in Narayanganj, organized by the District Administration, ahead of the observance of Martyred Intellectuals Day and the Great Victory Day. The meeting took place on Tuesday (25 November) in the conference room of the District Administration, presided over by Deputy Commissioner Md. Raihan Kabir.
At the meeting, it was announced that on 14 December at 11 a.m., a discussion program will be held in the DC’s conference room to mark Martyred Intellectuals Day, followed by the placing of floral tributes at the Panchabati Killing Ground. On 16 December, Victory Day, the national flag will be hoisted at all government and private offices in the morning, government buildings will be illuminated, a 31-gun salute will be offered, and floral wreaths will be placed at the Chashara Victory Monument. A children’s parade will also be held at the Osmani Municipal Stadium. Additionally, family members of heroic freedom fighters will be honored at the Shilpakala Academy. During the discussion, Deputy Commissioner Md. Raihan Kabir said that the nation will never forget the brave freedom fighters—the fearless sons of the soil—who sacrificed their lives for the independence of Bangladesh. He also paid tribute to those who were martyred in the anti- discrimination movement of ’24, saying that their sacrifice has given the nation an opportunity to build a new, discrimination-free Bangladesh. He emphasized that their contributions will remain inscribed in history. The Deputy Commissioner added that on Martyred Intellectuals Day, floral tributes will be offered at the Panchabati Killing Ground, and special prayers will be held in various mosques seeking eternal peace for the departed souls. He also expressed sorrow for those affected by the recent earthquake.
He urged officials of all departments to raise awareness about earthquake preparedness. He discussed the identification of earthquake- damaged and high-risk buildings and emphasized keeping a careful watch to prevent any major untoward incident if such disasters occur inthe future.
The meeting, conducted by Additional Deputy Commissioner Md. Alamgir Hossain, was attended by Narayanganj Civil Surgeon Dr. A.F.M. Mashiur Rahman, Additional Superintendent of Police Tasmin Akter, Member-Secretary of Narayanganj District Freedom Fighters’ Command Bir Muktijoddha Md. Nur Alam, BNP Metropolitan Convener Advocate Sakhawat Hossain Khan, Jamaat-e-Islami Central Executive Council Member Maulana Moin Uddin, and Islami Andolon Narayanganj District President Mufti Masum Billah. Also present were senior officials from various district departments, heads of different institutions, leaders from several political parties, and members of civil society.
