A preparatory meeting was held at the Sylhet City Corporation to prevent corona infection on Tuesday afternoon in the meeting room of the City Corporation on Tuesday.
The meeting was chaired by Sylhet City Corporation Chief Executive Officer Mr. Mohammad Rezai Rafin Sarkar and discussed the corona situation in Sylhet and preparations for corona prevention.
City Corporation Chief Health Officer Dr. Md. Zahidul Islam said that the corona vaccine uptake rate in Sylhet is more than 80 percent. Therefore, there are corona antibodies. In addition, the people of Sylhet are aware of this and they follow the hygiene rules. Therefore, the rate of corona infection in Sylhet is also very low. However, we are ready to deal with the situation if it worsens.
In the meeting, Medical Officer of the Divisional Director (Health) Office Dr. Bhaskar Bhattacharya said that since January this year, 24 patients have been identified after testing 381 people for COVID-19. The detection rate is less than 6 percent. So far, one person has died. Isolation and ICU beds are ready at Shaheed Dr. Shamsuddin Hospital. There are sufficient corona test kits and surgical preparations.
In the meeting, Chief Executive Officer of the City Corporation Mohammad Rezai Rafin Sarkar said that the infection of corona in Sylhet is very low. This is very promising for us. We must follow the hygiene rules to prevent the infection from increasing. In addition, necessary preparations must be made for infection prevention and treatment.
In the meeting, City Corporation Secretary Md. Ashiq Noor, Chief Revenue Officer Md. Matiur Rahman Khan, Chief Property Officer Bishwajit Deb, Executive Magistrate Faria Sultana, World Health Organization Dr. Muhammad Fazlul Quader, City Corporation Chief Waste Management Officer Md. Eklim Abdin, Border Management Deputy Director Md. Parvez Alam, UNICEF Consultant Dr. Navojyoti Deb, Md. Humayun Kabir, City Corporation Slum Development Officer Abul Fazal Khokon, Public Relations Officer Nehar Ranjan Purkayastha and others were present at the meeting.
