A pregnant woman and her two children were killed after a bus hit a batter-run rickshaw at Mirpur Kalachand intersection in Sirajganj municipal area on Sunday noon.
The deceased are– Rifat Sultana Runi, 38, wife of Masud Rana from Mirpur Dakshinpara area, and their son Wahid, 12 and daughter Soyfa, 6.
The rickshaw puller, Chan Mia, 25, was injured in the crash and undergoing treatment at a hospital.
Ajabul Islam, assistant-sub-inspector of Sirajganj Sadar police station, said the auto-rickshaw carrying the victims were crushed between a bus and a truck on Sirajganj-Kadda regional road around 12:00 pm, leaving Runi and her son Wahid dead on the spot and two others injured.
Locals rescued Soyfa and rickshaw driver Chan Mia to Sirajganj 250 Bed Bongamata Sheikh Fazilatunnesa Mujib General Hospital. Soyfa died soon after admittance while Chan Mia is undergoing treatment, he added.
