PRAN-RFL, country’s leading business conglomerate and voluntary organization and Amal Foundation have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to build a better future through effective waste management and waste segregation at source.
The MoU was signed at the head office of PRAN-RFL Group in the capital’s Badda area recently, said a press release on Wednesday.
Kamruzzaman Kamal, Marketing Director of PRAN-RFL Group and Esrat Karim, director of Amal Foundation signed the MoU on behalf of their respective organizations.
According to the MoU, PRAN-RFL and Amal Foundation will work to implement the project titled ‘Effective management of waste disposal: Nurturing A greener tomorrow through waste segregation’.
The goal of the project is to establish a waste segregation system and to encourage common people to segregate waste at source, through which it will be possible to develop more sustainable and environmentally friendly waste management.
Kamruzzaman Kamal said, “We have taken this project as a part of Extended Producer Responsibility or EPR in waste management. We will work with Amal Foundation to successfully implement this project.”
He also said that segregation of waste at source is very important in waste management. Overall waste management will not be successful if waste cannot be properly segregated at source.
“Due to lack of awareness, it is not possible to segregate waste at source at home or shopping mall. We will work with Amal Foundation to bring qualitative change in waste management as part of corporate social responsibility,” added Kamal.
Esrat Karim said that the main objective of this MoU is to change the behavior of common people by training them to separate the waste from the source.
Moreover, in this two-year project, Amal Foundation in collaboration with Dhaka North City Corporation will conduct various activities including conducting surveys, providing bins, providing training to waste collectors.
She further said, “We hope that the partnership between PRAN-RFL Group and Amal Foundation will open a new horizon in waste management. We are initially working on a small scale. We hope we can work with PRAN-RFL group on a bigger scale in waste management in the days to come.”
Nurul Afser, head of corporate brand of PRAN-RFL Group and senior officials of both organizations were present on the occasion.
