PPP Authority, BTMC delegation visit Barendra Rajshahi textile factory

A delegation of the Public-Private Partnership ( PPP) Authority and Bangladesh Textile Mills Corporation (BTMC) visited the Barendra Rajshahi Textile Limited factory on Tuesday to monitor the progress of the Rajshahi Textile Mill project being implemented under the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model. After the visit, the delegation attended a workshop organised by BTMC with the participation of investors.
The delegation was led by Muhammad Rafiqul Islam, Chief Executive Officer of PPP Authority. Other members of the team included BTMC Chairman Brigadier General S M Zahid Hassan and BTMC’s project Director of PPP Projects Kazi Feroz Hossain. The delegation was welcomed by Md. Shahidul Islam, Chairman of Barendra Rajshahi Textile Limited, and Anisur Rahman, Executive Director of Multi Line Industries Limited, a concern of PRAN-RFL Group.
During the visit, the delegation expressed satisfaction over the progress and said that the initiative will make a significant contribution to employment and industrialization in the Rajshahi region. They thanked PRAN-RFL Group for creating employment for 1,800 people within a short period, says a press release.
Rajshahi Textile Mill, which was closed for 22 years, is being reopened as Barendra Rajshahi Textile Limited at the initiative of PRAN-RFL, one of the leading business conglomerates in the country.
After signing an agreement between BTMC and PRAN-RFL Group on October 27 last year, PRAN-RFL took over the responsibility of the mill in December. Currently, trial production has started and it will be officially inaugurated very soon.
PRAN-RFL wants to turn this factory into the largest eco-friendly industrial enterprise in the northern region of the country.
