Several influential leaders of the ruling Awami League (AL) has reportedly gone into hiding in Balaganj, raising speculation about their motives and the circumstances surrounding their disappearance.
Sources suggest that the leaders, known for their strong political influence, have chosen to stay away from public appearances amid growing internal party tensions and possible legal or political challenges. The situation has sparked discussions among local residents and party insiders, with many questioning the reasons behind their sudden absence.
Local sources said,Balaganj Upazila Awami League General Secretary and former Upazila Parishad Chairman Anhar Mia have fled to India, Sylhet Metropolitan Volunteer League President, Sylhet District Awami League Relief and Social Welfare Secretary, Purba Gouripur Union Former Chairman Sheikh Makhlu Mia has fled to America, Upazila Awami League Joint General Secretary Juned Mia Lapatta, Balaganj Upazila Volunteer League President Faruk Mia has fled to Australia, Balaganj Upazila Ward 4 District Council Member, District Volunteer League Member Atiqur Rahman has fled to Canada, Jubo League leader Hussain Master has fled to Canada, Jubo League leader MA Malek has fled, Balaganj Upazila Chhatra League former President Abdur Rakib Jewel has fled to London, Upazila Awami League leader Jitu is in London, Chhatra League former General Secretary Rubel is in Italy, Chhatra League Vice President Jewel has fled to France, Jubo League leader has fled Zayed Ahmed is in London, Upazila Swechchhasebak League General Secretary Nayan Talukder is in India, Upazila Chhatra League former president Amir Ali is also the current president Tutul is in hiding.
While these influential and powerful leaders have fled abroad, ordinary leaders and activists are in danger, these leaders and activists are living an extremely uncertain life due to the fear of lawsuits.
