Various roads in Kishoreganj remain in a dilapidated condition for long time due to a lack of repair, increasing sufferings of commuters.

Large potholes and potholes have formed on the one and a half kilometer road from Ekrampur to Satal in Kishoreganj town. The carpeting has come off, making the road completely impassable. Patients, school-going students, passengers, and pedestrians are taking risks every day.

On rainy days, water accumulates in the potholes on the road. Each pothole has turned into a small pond. The entire road becomes covered in mud and water. This forces vehicles to move wobbly and accidents occur almost every day. It is reported that at least 10 vehicles have fallen into the potholes and overturned in the last one month.

Concerned citizens, drivers, businessmen and students have expressed their anger over the poor condition of the road and demanded immediate repairs. The concerned department said that work is underway to upgrade the road to a highway, but the delay is causing immense suffering to people. In this reality, road repairs are the need of the hour.

Recently, on the spot, it was seen that the road is full of big holes and potholes. There are dikes in different places on the road. Some places have become high and burst. Vehicles are now moving on the road with a wobbly gait. Some parts of the road are also occupied by mud and water.

Every pothole on the road has turned into a small pond due to the accumulation of rainwater. The condition is so bad from Ekrampur to Satal, Bara Bazar, and Newtown in Kishoreganj. This often leads to small and big accidents.

Bus, truck, pickup, easy bike and motorcycle drivers also expressed their anger, saying that they have to struggle to drive on this road. Due to the large potholes that have formed across the road, vehicles are constantly being damaged. As a result, they are suffering financially.

Truck driver Farid Miah expressed his anger and said, “The condition of this road has made our car’s tires and tires worn out. Driving on the broken road is very difficult.” Autorickshaw driver Nizamuddin said, “All the income I earn goes to the cost of the car. Every day something gets damaged.”

Rafiqul Islam, a banker from Islampur area of Guadia Tamni, Karimganj Upazila, said, “Recently, I myself was involved in a motorbike accident on this road. Traveling with a sick person is, in a word, a nightmare.”
