Bangladesh Cricket team’s Assistant Coach Nic Pothas was confident that opener Litton Das will regain his form soon and make an impact in the upcoming ICC T20 World Cup in the USA and West Indies in June.

The recent form of Litton Das has emerged as a massive concern for the hosts heading to the T20 World Cup. In his last two T20I innings against Zimbabwe, Litton has managed 1 and 23 runs.

However, the right-hander had a successful BPL 2024 season, emerging as the third most successful batter with 391 runs at a strike rate of 130.76.

The coach believes the wicket-keeper batter is just one innings away to find his form back and prepare himself ahead of the T20 World Cup.

“Litton Das has so much to offer us. Liton Das is a world class cricketer. He’s one innings away from having an unbelievable World Cup. So, there’s no doubt that Litton Das is going to score a lot of runs as he has done in the past. But he adds so much value to our side. What he does in the field for us, what he offers to our group as a senior player, he does so much more than what you see,” said Pothas during the press conference.

The coach was annoyed when asked why Bangladesh isn’t choosing to bat first. He emphasized that his team wants to win the series and doesn’t want to risk anything.

“The first thing within a series is to win the series. Once you’ve done that, then we can start playing around with other things. Because you know what it’s like? We experiment cause you want us to experiment.

Something goes wrong and then you’ll hammer us for experimenting. So, you’re never gonna win. We have to do what we think is the right thing to do in that situation,” he added.
