Potato prices may increase slightly within the next month: Sheikh Bashiruddin, Deputy Minister of Commerce in Joypurhat

Sheikh Bashir Uddin, the interim government’s advisor on commerce, textiles and jute, and civil aviation and tourism, said in response to journalists’ questions that the price of potatoes may increase slightly within the next month. We are providing incentives for potato exports and are cooperating in exports. Efforts are being made to create demand. In addition, potatoes will also be purchased from the TCB market. The government is working to achieve the target of potato exports. He said that through this step, the interests of both farmers and buyers will be protected.
Sheikh Bashir Uddin, the interim government’s Commerce, Textiles and Jute, Civil Aviation and Tourism Advisor, landed by helicopter at the Gopinathpur High School grounds in Akkelpur Upazila of Joypurhat at 1:15 pm on Friday (September 5).
After getting off the helicopter, he was greeted with flowers on behalf of the district administration, district police administration, upazila administration and Gopinathpur Union Parishad. He was given a guard of honor there. Then, he went to Mortuzapur in Dupchachia upazila of Bogra, one and a half kilometers away from Gopinathpur, where Advisor Sheikh Bashiruddin offered Jumma prayers. Later, he visited the grave of his father-in-law, the late Abdur Razzak Akand.
Then they attended lunch at the Gopinathpur Himagar in Akkelpur.
Although he described the visit as a family visit, he said that the government is always vigilant in monitoring the market and that sales activities through exports and TCB will be launched to ensure the correct price of potatoes.
Advisor Sheikh Bashiruddar stayed in the cold storage in Gopinathpur until 5 pm and then left for Dhaka by helicopter.
