Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Secretary General and former Member of Parliament, Professor Mia Golam Porwar, has called on party supporters and the general public to unite in a mass mobilization behind the party’s electoral symbol—the Daripalla (balance scale)—as the country approaches its 13th National Parliamentary Election.

Speaking at street rallies organized by local Jamaat units in Sikirhat, Phultala Bazar, and Shiromoni Shaheed Minar on Sunday morning, Porwar noted that the interim government is steering the nation toward the upcoming polls, and reaffirmed Jamaat-e-Islami’s readiness to contest as a democratic, election-focused party.

“Following the Honorable High Court’s verdict, the Election Commission has reinstated Jamaat’s registration along with the Daripalla symbol. Now is the time to begin building a public wave of support for our symbol and vision,” he said.

Fresh from performing the holy Hajj, Porwar was welcomed by enthusiastic supporters and local leaders upon his arrival at Sikirhat. Addressing the crowds, he strongly criticized previous governments, accusing them of decades of corruption, violence, and misgovernance that, in his words, “failed to deliver the public welfare the people of this nation long deserve.”

“The people have seen all forms of governance—what remains is to experience Islamic leadership,” Porwar said, echoing the vision of Jamaat Ameer Dr. Shafiqur Rahman, who has called for a new Bangladesh—one free from looting, unemployment, and systemic inequality.

Referring to the 2024 mass uprising, Porwar emphasized that the sacrifices of over two thousand martyrs and the thousands more injured must not be in vain. “We have a unique opportunity to rebuild a just and inclusive Bangladesh. No force should be allowed to bring back fascism or political repression,” he warned.

Porwar concluded by urging voters to support honest and God-fearing candidates in the coming election. “If we can send at least 151 righteous, Islam-loving representatives to Parliament, we can lay the foundation of a truly welfare-oriented and prosperous state,” he said, underlining Jamaat’s commitment to transparency, development, and social justice.
