Porshi Rumi, hailed from Sylhet, started working in media several years ago with the dream of becoming a successful actress.
In the wake of properly involving herself in the acting world, she also participated in ‘Lux Superstar’ competition organised by ATN Bangla.
She was in a pretty good position in two reality shows, which is why she was able to catch the attention of directors.
She first acted in drama titled ‘Ek Bindu Jol’ directed by Mannan Shafiq. She then received acclaim for acting in dramas directed by Mushfiqur Rahman Gulzar, Saidur Rahman Khokon and several other directors. She came to the limelight most after starring in the music video for the song ‘Deho Ghori’ by Kishore Polash, a popular folk artiste of this generation. Her co-star in this video was Sabbir Ahmed, Porshi Rumi also came into the spotlight by working in the music video for Kazi Shuvo’s song titled ‘Bhule Thako Kemon Kore’. These two music videos have been enjoyed by over a million viewers. She has also received a lot of attention for working as a model in the music videos of several artistes, including Mir Shahid.
Rumi first worked as a model in a Grameenphone’s advertisement under the direction of Kamruzzaman. She was later praised for working as a model for advertisements for several other products, including ‘Well Food’, ‘Bahok’, ‘Confidence Salt’, ‘Pran RFL Jug’, and ‘Fresh Sugar’.
Porshi Rumi told this correspondent, “I took a break from working in the media for a few days just to take care of my family. Now I’m thinking that I have to get busy with work again. That’s why I’m keeping in touch with everyone a little bit. I know it is not possible to work regularly in the media from Sylhet. That is why I will be moving to Dhaka soon. Before that, I want to go to Dhaka with the assurance of a good job and start working in this new venture. I believe that those who have worked with me before will once again extend their hands of support and sit by my side. I am grateful to those who have worked with me before. I believe I will do better than before.”
