BNP Standing Committee Member Dr AZM Zahid Hossain on Thursday shed light on the process of selecting party nominees for the upcoming national election.
He said, “Nomination will be given to those who enjoy strong public support and who rank higher in the findings of the party’s internal surveys.”
Dr Zahid made these remarks after placing a wreath at the grave of BNP founder and late President Ziaur Rahman in Sher-e-Bangla Nagar. The programme was organised by the Pharmacists Association of Bangladesh to mark World Pharmacists Day 2025.
The senior BNP leader stated that the party had begun its election preparations nearly 18 months ago. “Our activists are working actively at the grassroots across the country. The final list of candidates will be announced very soon,” he added.
He further said that BNP is determined to contest the elections by overcoming both domestic and international conspiracies and will implement its announced 31-point programme with people’s mandate.
At this point, Dr Zahid also revealed that BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman is expected to return to the country within the next few weeks.
“He (Tarique Rahman) will take the lead in the struggle to restore democracy and guide the party in the coming elections,” he asserted.
