Dance: Pooja going to France to participate in fests, training

Pooja Sengupta is a Bangladeshi dancer, choreographer, director, and also the Artistic Director of ‘Turongomi’. She has been praised for performing at various events both in the country and abroad.
This time, Pooja is going to France to conduct dance sessions and participate in festivals in addition to receiving higher training in dance.
Pooja will be staying in Nice, France from November 13 to January 28 at the invitation of Jean Loringet of Jazz Dance Company of France.
There, she will take advanced training in Laban Movement Analysis, conduct a session on traditional dance of Bangladesh for artists in France.
Apart from this, Pooja will participate in the 25th Cannes International Dance Festival to be held in Cannes, France this month with Jean Loringet of Jazz Dance Company.
Among the dance theatre and choreographies directed by Pooja Sengupta are: ‘Waterness’, ‘Anamika Sagarkanya’, ‘Nondini’, ‘Hochimin’, ‘Adamya’, ‘Dhara Toru Kavya’, ‘Aranya’, and ‘Resolution’.
In addition to dancing and directing, Pooja is a researcher. She has been conducting research since 2011 with the aim of creating her own dance style in Bangladesh.
Pooja has conducted dance workshops at Bangkok University in 2014 and at the Philippine Dance Exchange in 2018-19.
In 2018, her papers were presented at the Dance Education Conference organised by Capital Normal University and Beijing Dance Academy in China, and Herzen State University in Russia.
Her articles on dance have been published in multiple journals in China, Russia, and India.
In 2018, Pooja received the Nurul Quader Award. In 2019, Turongomi School of Dance became the first Bangladeshi dance educational institution and Pooja Sengupta became a member of the International Dance Council UNESCO as a dancer.
In 2022, Pooja was awarded the Friendship Medal by the President of Vietnam for her production of Ho Chi Minh. Apart from this, she has received various other awards in recognition of her works.
