A mobile cour ordered a businessman to be fined 20 thousand Tk in an anti-polythene campaign at Kunjer hat bazar in Borhanuddin upazila of Bhola. Upazila Executive Officer and Executive Magistrate Raihan-Uzzaman conducted a mobile court in the bazar around two o’clock on Monday and imposed the fine.
According to the concerned sources, 148 kg of banned polythene was found in the grocery store M/S Kajal store adjacent to the fish market on Saha Road in Kunjer hat bazar. In the presence of Borhanuddin Thana Police Force and Tota Mia,assistant Director of Bhola District Environment Department the polythene was seized from that shop. For the crime of keeping prohibited polythene in business establishments, the businessman Monir (35) was fined 20 thousand Tk was charged under section 6 (a) of the Bangladesh Environmental Protection Act, 1995.
Upazila executive officer Raihan-Uzzaman said that the upazila administration will continue to operate the mobile court in public interest.
