To press home their six-point demand, students under the “Technical Student Movement, Bangladesh” a coalition of students from institutions under the Bangladesh Technical Education Board, have announced nationwide rallies at all polytechnic institutes.
The announcement came on Saturday afternoon following their “Rise in Red” program. According to the announcement, the rallies will be held across the country on Sunday.
Central leaders of the Technical Student Movement have urged participants to remain vigilant to ensure that the program does not cause any public inconvenience.
The students stated that grand rallies will take place simultaneously at all polytechnic institutes across the country.
The objective is to draw the attention of senior government authorities to their six-point demand. They also reiterated their commitment to ensuring that the rallies do not disrupt the general public.
Zubair Patwari, a representative of the movement and a student of Dhaka Polytechnic Institute, said, “We call on the authorities to meet our demands as soon as possible, and we will vacate the streets.
Ensure a proper investigation and justice regarding the attack on our brothers in Cumilla, and guarantee their proper treatment. We are willing to sit for dialogue.”
Another representative, Md. Mashfik Islam Dewan, also a student of Dhaka Polytechnic Institute, added, “This government is our government, a government for the students, for the revolutionaries.
We are ready to fully cooperate with it. We want the government eliminate the discrimination that exists in the technical education sector.”
