Politicians must not get away with the wealth earned illegally

The recent fall of the Awami League government has exposed a shocking level of corruption among its former leaders.

Many politicians have suddenly become very rich, and their wealth is growing without explanation.

This indicates that corruption has become a serious problem in Bangladesh.

The government agency responsible for checking people’s wealth, the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC), has failed to do its job.

It has ignored the huge increases in wealth shown in official documents by many politicians.

This lack of action suggests that the ACC is uninterested in fighting corruption.

The problem is even worse because the ACC only investigates corruption when someone complains.

It should be actively looking for suspicious activity, but it isn’t.

This means that politicians can easily hide their wealth and get away with it.
The public is angry about this.

They see that politicians are lying about how much money they have, and they believe the government is protecting corrupt officials.

This is damaging trust in the government and making people feel that the system is unfair.

The courts have also failed to stop corruption. Even though there is a law that says politicians must declare their wealth, the courts have not done enough to make sure this law is followed.

If Bangladesh wants to fight corruption, it needs to take strong action.

The government must investigate the wealth of former politicians, punish those who are guilty, and make sure that corruption cannot happen again.

We demand swift and decisive action. Let us unite to hold our leaders accountable, reform our institutions, and build a Bangladesh free from the scourge of corruption.

Together, we can create a future where everyone has an equal opportunity to thrive.

Without rebuilding the institutions and national psyche, we cannot thrive in the future and make a discrimination free country, the promise of Independence.
