Bangladesh Bank Governor Dr. Ahsan H. Mansur has said that the country’s overall economic situation remains stable, and with continued political stability, the economy will perform even better in the coming days.
Speaking about the progress in recovering laundered money, he said, “Lawyers have been sent to the UK on behalf of several banks.
Efforts are underway to establish the claims of different groups of companies. If these initiatives succeed, we expect to see positive results soon.”
He made the remarks on Saturday noon while addressing a regional seminar titled “MFI-Bank Linkage” held at a local resort in Basail upazila of Tangail.
The event was organized by the Microcredit Regulatory Authority (MRA) with the aim of ensuring easier access to bank finance for rural and low-income populations.
MRA Executive Vice-Chairman Dr. Mohammad Helal Uddin presided over the seminar.
Among others, Sonali Bank Managing Director Shawkat Ali Khan and BRAC Bank Additional Managing Director Syed Abdul Momen also spoke on the occasion.
Chairpersons and representatives from various NGOs across the country were present at the event.
