A charge of drug trafficking has been filed against SI Kamal Hossain of Lohagara Police Station in Chittagong. Locals said that three sources were caught smuggling Phensedyl on his orders.
On Thursday (August 21) at around 1:30 am, locals conducted a raid in the Chunati Bazar area of the Chittagong-Cox’s Bazar highway of the upazila and arrested three people. During this, 48 bottles (100 ml) of Phensedyl and a private car used for smuggling were seized from them. Later, when the locals informed the army, they went to the spot and took the detainees to the camp and handed them over to the police station after interrogation.
The detainees are Ramiz Uddin (35), son of Hashi Mia of Sukhchhari Old BOC area of Amirabad 7th ward of the upazila, Nazim Uddin (45), son of Abul Hossain of Hossain Ali Matbar bari of Lohagara Sadar 7th ward, and Tajul Islam (49), son of Shahid Ullah of Bhaberchar area of Gazaria police station in Munshiganj district.
Locals said that the detainees were carrying bags full of phensidyl. Upon receiving the information, the locals chased them and arrested them and searched the car on Facebook live and recovered the phensidyl. Later, when the army was informed, they went to the spot and took the detainees to the camp.
Detainee source Ramiz Uddin said, “SI Kamal Hossain working at Lohagara police station gave us these phensidyls. He ordered them to take them to Aziz Nagar in the neighboring Parbatya Lama upazila.” The reporter has a 2-minute and 8-second video in this regard.
Although attempts were made to contact SI Kamal Hossain on his mobile phone several times, he did not respond.
Police Inspector (Investigation) of Lohagara Police Station Rabiul Alam Khan said, “A case has been filed against the arrested persons under the Narcotics Control Act. They were handed over to the Chittagong court on Friday (August 22) morning. It is being investigated whether any police personnel were involved in this incident.”
