Bangladesh Police Football Club reached the semi-finals of the Federation Cup Football after defeating Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club Limited by three goals to nil in their quarter-final match at the Sheikh Fazlul Haque Mani Stadium in Gopalganj on Tuesday.
All the three goals were scored before the lemon-break.
Police Football Club’s Uzbek recruit Sokhibov put his team ahead by a header using a free-kick of his teammate Mithu in the second minute of the play.
Quazem of Police Football Club doubled the margin by put the ball into the blank net in the 6th minute of the game.
Police Football Club’s foreign recruit Azamat Abdullev made it 3-0 by a back heal using a cross of his teammate Sahed in the 23rd minute of the match.
Bashundhara Kings, Dhaka Mohammedan Sporting Club Limited have already confirmed their semi-finals berth. The winning team of the last quarter-final match between Dhaka Abahani Limited and Fortis Football Club will take their place in the last four.
After trailing in the match by three goals to nil, players of Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club Limited tried their level best to return to the match. But the defenders of Police Football Club as Emon, Mithu and Sahed saved their team from danger.
Sheikh Jamal’s forwards as Mohammed Abdullah, Higor Leite created some opportunities but failed to convert those.
In the 63rd minute of the match, Sheikh Jamal’s Shakhzod Shaymanov struck into the goalbar but Police Football Club’s golie Rasel Liton saved his team at the cost of corner kick.
Police Football Club’s Zillur Rahman’s shot went over the crosspiece in the 68th minute of the match.
The strength of Bangladesh Police Football Club and Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club Limited is almost same but Police Football Club confirmed their semi-final berth within 23rd minute of the match scoring three goals.
