Staff Reporter :Police on Monday foiled a procession brought by the Islami Andolan Bangladesh (IAB) of Charmonay Peer in the city by charging batons and firing tear gas cells. The procession started from the north gate of the Baitul Mokarram National Mosque in the afternoon. Later, the party announced fresh programme demanding capital punishment to former Minister Abdul Latif Siddiqui for his derogatory comments about Hajj and Tablig Jamaat. The IAB Ameer and Charmonay Peer Mufti Syed Mohammad Rezaul Karim in a press briefing from the party’s central office at the city’s Purana Paltan announced the programme. According to the announcement, the party will also bring out procession in the city tomorrow and will hold grand rallies in Chittagong, Khulna and Dhaka on October 31, November 14 and December 26 respectively. Syed Rezaul Karim demanded cancellation of the citizenship of Latif Siddiqui. He also demanded that the government would bring him back in the country through Interpol in case of need. Â Protesting the police obstruction, he claimed that their two workers were injured in the police action during the procession. They were sent to Dhaka Medical College Hospital. Earlier, the IAB leaders and workers tried to bring out the procession from Baitul Mokarram Mosque after Zohr prayers, but police did not allow them. Police cordoned off the IAB office. Later, the IAB men brought out procession in the afternoon. Â
