The Pitha Puli Festival has been inaugurated as part of the youth festival at South Surma Government College Sylhet on Wednesday afternoon.
the Youth and Pitha Puli Festival 2025 organised on the college premises was inaugurated by Sylhet Divisional Commissioner Khan Md. Rezaun Nabi.
Speaking as the chief guest at the function presided over by College Principal Iftekhar Alam, the Divisional Commissioner said, “To build a new Bangladesh, we have to take a new oath.
We have to stand against all kinds of injustice and oppression. We have to take a public-oriented initiative to implement public aspirations.” He said, “Students should devote themselves to serving the country by acquiring knowledge and skills. Today’s students are the leaders of the nation’s future. Therefore, these students should work to fulfill public expectations in the larger interest of the country.”
Joynul Islam, the convener of Pithapuli Festival 2025, spoke at the event, which was conducted by Shyamoli Chakraborty, a lecturer in the college’s Bengali department.
The event was attended by Dakshin Surma Upazila Assistant Commissioner (Land) Md. Alim Ullah Khan, Dakshin Surma Press Club President Jahangir Alam Musik, former (acting) General Secretary Shofik Ahmed Shofiee,present General Secretary Sharif Ahmed, journalist Mohammad Nurul Islam, college teachers Professor Matiur Rahman, Professor Salma Yasmin, Professor Rawnak Jahan Begum, Professor Motilal Das, Professor Rahena Haque, Shubhas Chandra Saha, Shafiqul Islam, Kajri Rani Dhar, Kaniz Fatema, Nafis Sakina, Shukta Rani Chowdhury, Mohammad Mainul Haque, Shahed Ahmed, Aminur Rahman, Abdul Baten, Fatema Khanam, Altaf Hossain, Shahriar Khan, Humaira Begum Moni, Bishwajit Dam, Mahbuba Begum, along with college teachers and students, as well as dignitaries from the area. After the discussion, the chief guest cut the ribbon. Inaugurated the Pitha Puli festival and visited various stalls.
