A pitha festival and an entrepreneur fair were held in Fakirhat under Bagerhat district on the occasion of the youth festival. During this, members of the youth club organized a cultural programme.
This entrepreneur fair and pitha festival were organized by the Upazila Administration and Women’s Affairs Department at the Upazila Parishad Auditorium at 11-30 am on Wednesday (November 19).
Sumona Airin, Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO), Fakirhat inaugurated the fair as the chief guest. Upazila Women’s Affairs Officer Tahira Begum delivered the welcome of address as the president of the programme. Among others, Assistant Commissioner (Land) ASM Shahnewaz Mehedi, Assistant Police Superintendent (Circle) Md. Rasedul Islam Rana, Upazila Agriculture Officer Sheikh Sakhawat Hossain, OC Abdur Razzak Mir, Upazila Project Implementation Officer Imrul Kayes, Cooperative Officer Milan Kumar Das, Secondary Academic Supervisor Asaduzzaman and officials from various government departments and professions were present at the time.
At the Pitha Festival, entrepreneurs decorated at least 25 types of pitha, including Sandesh Puli, Coconut Puli, Pan Pitha, Semai Pitha, Kotal Pitha, Bhapa Pitha, Patisapta, Teler Pitha. In addition, entrepreneurs displayed pickles and handmade clothing products.
The organizers said that there are many women entrepreneurs in Fakirhat who make many good products themselves. But due to lack of promotion, they fail to sell their products.
Therefore, organizing Entrepreneur Fair and Pitha Festival will not only increase their sales, but also play a role in creating new entrepreneurs.
