As physical and mental development is impossible without physical exercise and sports, playgrounds are being built across 41 wards of the city, said Chattagram City Corporation (CCC) Mayor Dr. Shahadat Hossain. On Sunday (3 May), the inaugural ceremony of the “Equity Mayor Cup Under-14” Cricket Tournament was held at the Bakalia Stadium under the management of CCC XI. The tournament was inaugurated by the Chief Guest, Chattagram City Corporation (CCC) Mayor Dr. Shahadat Hossain. The program was conducted by CCC XI General Secretary Md. Ali Akbar.
Ispahani Academy vs. Quality Academy participated in the inaugural game. In his speech as the Chief Guest, Mayor Dr. Shahadat Hossain said that physical and mental development is impossible without sports. In order to ensure quality education, a plan has been taken to construct 41 playgrounds in 41 wards, emphasizing moral education and sports along with academic education.
Highlighting the importance of sports, he said, “There is no alternative to sports for a healthy body.
Sports are very important in building concentration, discipline, self-control and responsibility among students. Sports are essential for the physical and mental development of students. It is not just entertainment, but also builds confidence and a mentality of hard work.
In the present era, sports and cultural practices are equally important along with education.
There is no opportunity to play on the field like that in Chattagram now. Announcing the construction of playgrounds in ward by ward, the Mayor said, in addition to reviving Shaheed Ziaur Rahman’s canal excavation program, we have taken up the plan to build fields in 41 wards. In the meantime, work on many fields has started.
To eliminate inequality, we are creating opportunities for sports for the rich and poor of the society. In this way, we will build a beautiful Chittagong without discrimination. Deputy Managing Director of the sponsoring organization Kazi Aqib Ahmed, Marketing Manager Md. Sajjad Hossain, and former Joint Secretary of CJKS Aminul Islam were present as special guests.
