The Police Headquarters (PHQ) has dismissed a misleading social media post that falsely attributes a bail-related remark to Inspector General of Police (IGP) Baharul Alam.
In a press release issued on Wednesday, PHQ clarified that a photo card being circulated online, which quotes the IGP as making a comment about bail, is entirely fabricated.
The viral post allegedly claimed: “It is incomprehensible how arrested major criminals get bail within two to three days.” Officials have confirmed that IGP Baharul Alam never made such a statement.
According to the clarification, the photo card was produced by twisting comments the IGP made during a press conference at Police Headquarters on Tuesday, September 30.
The Media Wing of PHQ condemned the spread of this misinformation and cautioned against the intentional dissemination of false or distorted news.
