PHP Family a leading industrial group, added a new dimension to the country’s solar energy sector. The company started its own power generation by installing solar panels on the roofs of its textile mill and steel mill. PHP Family Chairman Sufi Mohammad Mizanur Rahman inaugurated the solar power generation activities at the Kumira factory in Chattagram on Tuesday (December 3).
Vice Chairman Mohammad Mohsin, DirectorsAnwarulHaque, Amir Hossain Sohel, Zahirul Islam Rinku, Victor MizanMohsin and Executive Director Shafiqur Rahman Khan were present at the time. In the initial stage, solar panels with a total capacity of 1,740 kilowatts have been installed in the two factories. The target is to generate about 2,000 megawatts of electricity from these panels annually.
This will reduce carbon emissions by about 1,100 tons. Electricity will be generated from sunlight and used in PHP factories. As a result, electricity consumption will be saved. PHP Family official Shafiqur Rahman Khan said that there are plans to install solar panels on the roofs of other institutions in the future. This will enable the company to meet a significant portion of its total electricity needs from its own sources.
