Patharghata housewife dies of snake bite

A woman named Sumaiya Akhter Moni (23) died of snake bite in Patharghata upazila of Barguna. She was a mother of one child. Sumaiya Akhtar Moni lived with her husband and children in CharduaniChirabad village of Patharghata.
Doctors at Sher-e-Bangla Medical College Hospital declared Monik dead on Tuesday (July 2) morning. Moni was bitten by a snake in his house on Monday (July 1) night. This information was given by her husband Mahbubur Rahman Mithu.
Mithu said that Moni went to the toilet around 11 last night. There he was bitten by a snake. In an injured state, Moni was taken to Patharghata Upazila Health Complex.
The doctors there gave Moni four injections and sent her home. But Moni fell ill after returning home. Later Mithu took her to Barishal Sher-E-Bangla Medical College Hospital (BSBMCH) and she died there on Tuesday morning.
Abul Kalam, ward master of BSBMCH said as there was no question of postmortem of a patient bitten by a snake so dead body of Moni has been handed over to the relatives from the hospital.
Mentionable recently, it has been reported that snake infestation has increased in several places of Barisal’s Banaripara, Agailjhara, Mehendiganj, Hijla and Bakerganj upazilas of Barishal district.
