Passenger sues driver for stealing luggage

A case has been filed with the Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (CMM) Court against a driver, Md. Jisan Pradhan (40), for allegedly stealing a passenger’s luggage containing valuables, including gold, ornaments, money, and foreign currency. Pradhan, a resident of Cumilla district, is accused of fleeing with the items.

The stolen luggage reportedly contained a diamond ring, 7 bhori (81.71 grams) of gold, 3,500 British pounds, and cash amounting to 2 lakh taka. The total estimated value of the stolen items is 13.75 lakh taka. The incident occurred on the evening of July 30, 2024, in the Jatrabari area of the city.

When contacted, Sub-Inspector Pijus of Jatrabari police confirmed the incident to The New Nation, stating that the final report of the case will be submitted within a couple of days.
