Local government elections will no longer be held using party symbols, Local Government and Rural Development (LGRD) Adviser Asif Mahmud Shojib Bhuyain announced on Thursday.
Speaking at a press briefing at the Foreign Service Academy in Dhaka, he said the Council of Advisers has approved amendments to four relevant laws proposed by the Local Government Division.
The decision was made during a meeting of the Council of Advisers held at the Chief Adviser’s Office, with Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus presiding.
