Staff Reporter :

The interim government is set to hold another round of meetings with political parties on October 5 to discuss the progress of the reform commissions. Chief Adviser Muhammad Yunus has already held two rounds of talks with various parties following a one-month break.

Shafiqul Alam, the Chief Adviser’s press secretary, announced that invitations will be sent to the major political parties. The discussions, set to begin on Saturday, will focus on updating parties on the work of six reform commissions and seeking their advice. The current law and order situation will also be on the agenda.

Shafiqul Alam stressed that the formation of the commissions is not dependent on political consultations, as they have already begun their work.

Offices are being arranged, and consent is being sought from potential members.
When asked about which parties will be invited, Alam said the final decision will be made by the Chief Adviser and the advisory council. So far, major parties are expected to participate.

Previously, on August 31, the Chief Adviser held meetings with leaders from Islamic political groups, including Islami Andolon Bangladesh and Hefazat-e-Islam, as well as other political entities such as Jatiya Party, Bikalpa Dhara Bangladesh, and Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP).

While political parties are calling for parliamentary elections, the interim government has yet to provide a specific timeline. They have emphasized completing their reform initiatives, which include six newly formed commissions, before holding elections.
