A four-member delegation from the Parents’ Unity Forum, a platform advocating for the protection of student interests, submitted a 12-point memorandum to Education Adviser Professor Dr. Chowdhury Rafiqul Abrar this afternoon at the Ministry of Education.
The delegation, led by the forum’s president and valiant freedom fighter Md. Ziaul Kabir Dulu, met with the adviser at 3:30 PM to voice their concerns and recommendations on pressing issues in the country’s education sector.
The other members of the delegation were: Md. Selim Mia, General Secretary of the Forum ,Md. Ahsan Ullah Manik, Vice President of the Forum and President of the Ideal School and College Guardians’ Forum ,Md. Selim Uddin, Founding General Secretary of the Forum.
The memorandum presented to the education adviser outlined several major demands, including the formation of an Education Reform Commission, the nationalisation of education, and the establishment of a transparent and accountable monitoring committee.
One of the more striking proposals was the appointment of a Brigadier General-ranked principal from the Bangladesh Army to address what the forum described as persistent corruption in several renowned educational institutions, including Ideal School and College, Viqarunnisa Noon School, and Monipur High School.
Additional demands included: Ban on private coaching by teachers ,Strict enforcement of admission policies ,Re-evaluation and merit-based recruitment of teachers and staff appointed over the past 15 years ,Creation of a separate pay scale for teachers ,Removal of political influence from school management committees ,Crackdown on alleged certificate trade in private universities ,Withdrawal of a 2018 ICT case filed against the forum president during the Safe Roads Movement.
