Societal Events Report :
The 5th Parbatyo Lokoj Mela was held at Nilachal and traditional Razar Math of Bandarban. In support with Bangladesh Tourism Corporation Channel i and Cute jointly organised the fair. The whole event was divided into two parts.
Civil Aviation and Tourism Minister Rashed Khan Menon MP, Chittagong Hill Tracts Affairs Minister U Shwe Sing MP, Managing Director of Channel i Faridur Reza Sagor, Director and Head of News of Channel i Shykh Seraj, Mukit Mazumder Babu, Jahir Uddin Mahmud Mamun, among others, were present at the inauguration of the fair which was hosted by Farzana Brownia.
Later local Bangladeshis and 14 indigenous people performed dance performances, while noted Tagore artiste Rezwana Chowdhury Bannya rendered a song titled O aamar desher mati.
Members of Chakma, Marma, Bom, Mro, Tripura, Manipuri, Khasia, Tanchanga, Kheyang, Pangkhoa, Rakhaine and Lusai community took part in an indigenous cultural show. This year the fair showcased 36 stalls by different indigenous groups.
The special attraction of the fair was Priyodorshini competition. This year 14 indigenous competitors vied for the crown presenting their respective performances in front of the judges – film actress Moushumi. Priyanka Sinha won the crown of Priyodorshini. She was hailed from Monipur community of Moulvibazar. nNN Photo
