An elderly man was killed by his rival groups over land dispute in Pakundia upazila of Kishoreganj on Sunday night. The victim’s Abdul Malek (75) in Hossaindi areas in Pakundia upazila.
According to locals and Police, there was a long dispute with Abdul Malek over the land of the neighboring Azizuls.
A local arbitration court was held on Sunday afternoon.
On the way back from the arbitration, the opponents attacked Abdul Malek.
The local people took him to the Upazila Health Complex in critical condition.
From there he was sent to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH).
He died Sunday night around 11.30pm while undergoing treatment.
Victim’s son Rana said, ‘The opponents killed my father in a pre-planned manner. I demand exemplary punishment for them.’
The Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Pakundia Md. Asaduzzaman Titu told the New Nation that his body was handed over to the relatives after the autopsy.
