Pagla Mosque gets Tk11.78cr

The historic Pagla Mosque, a 250-year -old mosque in Kishoreganj town has once again witnessed a record -breaking donation collection, receiving a staggering tk.11,78,48,538 Crore its 13 donation boxes, on Saturday morning after a gaf of 3 months 27 days since the last count. The authorities have collected at least 35 sacks of cash, and gold from 13 donation (charati) boxes.
The Charati boxes opened around 7. 30 am in the presence of Deputy Commissioner, also District Magistrate of Kishoreganj, Md.Aslam Mollah, Superintendent of Police (SP) dr. Farhad Hossain, ADM Ershadul Ahamed, ADC (General) Mizabe Rahmat and Sadar UNO Kamrul Hasan Maruf.
Earlier, on August, 30, the authorities have found over Tk 12.9,37414 Crore from 13 donation boxes.
Besides, a significant amount of foreign currencies, gold ornaments were also recovered from donation boxes.
The donation counting began at 7.30 am and continued till 6 pm, spanning 11 hours, with about 500 people involved in the process.
Pagla Mosque managing committee President, also Deputy Commissioner (DC) Md.Aslam Mollah said all the money was later deposited in Rupali Bank limited, Kishoreganj Branch , while the foreign currencies and gold ornaments found in the donation boxes were secured in District ’s Treasury.
DC of Kishoreganj, Md.Aslam said that Plans to construct an Islamic Complex centered a now Pagla Mosque. The proposed complex will be a 10-storey building, and will serve multiple purpose, including education facilities for Orohans, religious education, a well-equipped library, a cafetaria and IT section.
At present, the mosque ‘s account holds tk.104 Crore in public donation.
SP dr. Farhad Hossain said he and his police team ensured full security from the time the boxes were opened, through the transfer and counting, to the safe deposit of the money in the bank. Law enforcement members also guard the donation boxes during other times.
Later , the historical landmarks of Kishoreganj, Pagla Masjid stands out as one of the most prominent. Located in the town’s western side, this mosque is believed by many to fulfil heartfelt wishes when donations are made with pure intent.
Devotees from across the country regularly visit the mosque to donate not only money but also gold ornaments, cattle, ducks, chickens, and various other items.
